  Doug Selby

  CEO

  Building science expert and co-founder of Meadowlark Builders, Doug attended Michigan State University and graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry. After working as a pharmaceutical chemist and cancer researcher for 7 years, Doug left the profession in 1998 to become a carpenter, learning all trades while remodeling rental houses. During the early and mid-90’s, Kirk Brandon and Doug also founded and ran a woodworking company in Ann Arbor, where they honed their appreciation for fine craftsmanship. Doug and Kirk co-founded Meadowlark Builders in 2004, drawing on their previous experience in both business and the trades. Doug spent several years studying primitive living skills, and enjoys cooking, growing food and trying to keep up with his kids.

  Kirk Brandon

  COO

  COO and co-founder of Meadowlark Builders, Kirk attended Michigan State University and graduated with a B.A. in Accounting. After college, Kirk co-founded a woodworking company with Doug Selby. Kirk moved to Seattle in 1996 and worked as a cabinet-maker. Under the mentorship of John Blunt, Kirk mastered the art of cabinetmaking, and worked with proprietary CAD software developed to streamline the production of built-in cabinets. Kirk moved back to Michigan in 2003 and co-founded Meadowlark Builders with Doug in 2004. Kirk spent several years studying primitive living skills, and enjoys camping, hiking and kayaking. A wine enthusiast, Kirk also enjoys food and music. Kirk has built two guitars, with several others in various states of production. He will hopefully finish them before his two year-old son is ready to play them.

  Melissa Kennedy

  Sales and Design Manager

  Melissa has been part of the growth and development of Meadowlark over the last eight years. Prior to working in the residential realm, Melissa worked at a commercial office for three years after graduating from the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. Melissa enjoys managing and cultivating our culture at Meadowlark, while working on designs and selections with some of our very treasured clients. When not working, Melissa spends her time lifting heavy weights at Crossfit and scheduling in triathlons and long endurance races (preferably in the woods) and most importantly, creating and inventing with her two young boys, Makai and Ronan.

  Tina Roperti

  Office Manager

  Tina earned a B.A. in Psychology and Business with an emphasis in Human Resource Management from the University of Michigan. She has over 20 years’ experience in human resources and office administration in various industries including construction, education, information systems, and manufacturing. Tina enjoys spending time with her family, sewing and crocheting.

  Rob Patterson

  Construction Manager

  Rob graduated from Eastern Michigan University. He has constructed over 600 homes throughout his career in the residential construction industry. Before transitioning to his role at Meadowlark, Rob worked for Arbor Insulation for five years, the last four as general manager. In his spare time Rob likes working on home improvement projects, riding his motorcycle, sports car racing, an occasional good cigar and playing in the sun.

  David Giles

  Construction Manager

  David recently moved to Ann Arbor from Naples, Florida, to escape the heat and humidity and to enjoy the four seasons in Michigan. David graduated from Texas A&M University and promptly became involved in the remodeling industry with a neighbor. Many years later after running his own business and working as Director of Construction for a luxury home builder in Naples, David is enjoying new opportunities at Meadowlark as Project Manager and Production Manager. David enjoys golf, traveling and remodeling a vintage Ann Arbor home in the West End.
